The “Build Your Park” project is transforming the linear space of Parajes de San Isidro with the participation of the City Council, the Rotary Club, and the local community.
Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, August 18, 2025. With the aim of creating safe, healthy, and functional environments for communities, the Bepensa Foundation, in partnership with the Cummins Foundation, delivered the renovation of the Parajes de San Isidro linear park in Ciudad Juárez as part of the Bepensa Foundation's “Build Your Park” program.
Through a joint investment of 1.5 million pesos, this public space was completely renovated with the support of the City Council of Ciudad Juárez, the Juárez Executive Rotary Club, and, above all, with the participation of 60 volunteers from the community.
The project involved three of the five areas that make up the linear park. The actions included reforestation with native species, installation of playground equipment and outdoor exercise equipment, as well as the renovation of the sports field, general painting of the surroundings, and the construction of a family picnic area.
In this joint effort, the City Council of Ciudad Juárez played a key role by donating playground equipment with an approximate investment of 100,000 pesos, thus contributing to improving recreational options. The Bepensa Foundation and the Cummins Foundation expressed their gratitude for this gesture, recognizing that coordination with local authorities is essential to achieving a sustainable impact.
This process was not just about transforming the physical space: it was also an exercise in social integration and civic responsibility. From the kickoff on May 16, improvement work was carried out over twelve weeks with the support of corporate volunteers (confirm whether Bepensa volunteers will be participating so that we can mention them here), local authorities, and committed neighbors.
In the presence of Cruz Pérez Cuellar, mayor of Ciudad Juárez; Jessica Saade Saade, corporate affairs manager at Bepensa; Ricardo Díaz Vélez Aguirre, northeast regional manager at Distribuidora Megamark; Rafael Rucobo, president of the Executive Rotary Club; César Alberto Tapia Martínez, director of Municipal Public Services; and Javier Díaz, director of the Cuauhtémoc Federal Elementary School, Carlos Martín Briceño, director of the Bepensa Foundation, emphasized that these types of alliances should be understood as strategies for social transformation. He explained that beyond building recreational areas, the goal is to rehabilitate spaces with a sense of community, where citizens and businesses collaborate to strengthen the social fabric and generate shared well-being.
“The park that is being handed over today would not have been possible without the combined efforts of Fundación Bepensa and Fundación Cummins, the municipal authorities, strategic allies such as the Juárez Ejecutivo Rotary Club, and, most importantly, the community that lives and breathes this space every day,” he said.
He also emphasized that this model is not new. For nine years, Fundación Bepensa and Fundación Cummins have been implementing it in different regions of the country, adapting it to local realities but maintaining the same vision: building community from public spaces.
“Build your park is not just a day's work. It is a proposal that seeks to vindicate the right to live together, to play, to feel safe, and to live with dignity,” he added.
Unlike other models, attention to parks is not abandoned after their inauguration. Strategically, a continuous monitoring and maintenance scheme is implemented to ensure the sustainability of the space and foster a culture of neighborhood ownership.
“True transformation occurs when neighbors take ownership of the park, care for it, respect it, and turn it into a place of gathering and hope. That is why at Fundación Bepensa and Fundación Cummins, we don't just arrive, inaugurate, and leave. We accompany, listen, and remain,” said Carlos Martín.
This project confirms that when citizens, businesses, and government work together for the common good, the results translate not only into renovated spaces, but also into vibrant, resilient environments capable of fostering a new culture of coexistence and citizen participation.
