The first AMCHAMDR Talks of 2023 brought together a panel of experts to discuss the importance of women's inclusion and the need for greater participation in the Dominican business sector, given the advantages they could represent for companies in terms of competitiveness, innovation, and diversity of thought.
Through the "Equalizing the Dominican Republic" gender equality seal and the Gender Parity Initiative, companies can implement policies and practices that promote gender equality in their workplaces.
The Igualando RD Seal aims to transform work structures and human resource management in a fair and equitable manner, empowering companies to find solutions that eliminate the inequalities and gaps that women face. This process ensures equal opportunities to access training and leadership positions, and a comprehensive management model for gender equality.
The panel entitled "Gender Equality as a Competitive Advantage in the Private Sector" included the participation of Juan Amell, Director of Corporate Affairs at Bepensa Dominicana and member of the Board of Directors of AMCHAMDR.
Amell highlighted the important role played by the "Dominican Republic Seal" initiative, which has motivated the inclusion of women in high-level corporate hierarchies. She explained that "the most important thing is that the company's head is convinced that this is the right path; the recruiter must understand that the company is open to the best profile, and that this profile can be male or female."
To conclude this AMCHAMDR Talks, it was concluded that gender issues should not be viewed as a separate issue that only needs to be addressed by women, but rather that through equality, we can achieve the development of an inclusive nation that leaves no one behind.
