Bepensa Bebidas receives recognition for its good environmental performance

On December 3, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources recognized Bepensa Bebidas for its positive environmental performance during 2019 within the Clean Transportation Program.

The Clean Transportation Program is a voluntary program that seeks to make freight and passenger transportation in the country more efficient, safe, competitive, and environmentally friendly.

Companies participating in the Clean Transportation Program must aim to reduce fuel consumption, operating costs, air pollution emissions, and their carbon footprint as their primary objectives. This is achieved by adopting strategies, technologies, and best practices that make transportation more efficient, safe, and sustainable.

Among the fuel-saving and emission-reduction measures, operator training is promoted in eco-driving, maximum speed regulation, idling reduction, vehicle selection and specification, maintenance, logistics, aerodynamic improvements, low-rolling-resistance tires, automatic tire inflation systems, more advanced lubricants, and emission control devices.

Currently, 512 companies participate in this program, with a total of 75,185 vehicles evaluated, representing 1.8 million tons of CO2 avoided in 2019.

The recognition Bepensa Bebidas received within the Clean Transportation Program was given for the measures implemented in our fleet that have helped reduce CO2 emissions, improved driving habits, which led to reduced idling, and improved fuel efficiency thanks to telemetry monitoring.

Thanks to these efforts, mileage was reduced by optimizing the delivery fleet and planning deliveries, as well as reducing body weight by replacing steel with aluminum. This implementation prevented the emission of 1,210 tons of CO2, equivalent to the carbon captured by 639 hectares of forest, thus contributing to the global effort to reduce emissions.

At Bepensa, we appreciate the recognition from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources in the Clean Transportation Program and continue to implement best practices in our operations to conserve the environment and combat climate change.
