Bepensa, as part of the Mexican Coca-Cola Industry (IMCC), in collaboration with the Government of Quintana Roo, the State Environmental Protection Agency, and the community of Holbox, carried out activities aimed at protecting the environment as part of the global initiative #AWorldWithoutWaste, which seeks to positively impact communities and their surroundings by promoting a culture of proper waste separation and recycling.
At this event, eight containers made of recycled material were delivered to the Lázaro Cárdenas City Council for the proper separation and disposal of waste on Holbox Island by Bepensa. Everything collected will be handled by ECOCE to ensure its removal from the island and its final destination is a proper and sustainable recycling process.
Through a letter of goodwill that was signed by the attorney Miguel Nadal and Manuel Rivero representative of Bepensa In Quintana Roo, the commitment to promote good environmental practices was established, as well as to foster adequate spaces for depositing waste that can be reused at the end of its use by consumers.
These activities were joined by the municipality's Ecology Directorate, headed by Director Hugo Kanxoc, the Tourism Directorate Lupita Campos, the Holbox Mayor's Office, on behalf of CONANP, the Deputy Director of the ANP Eduardo Ciau, the Nómada Group, IMOVEQROO staff, Holbox Express, the Jaalkanab Association, the Manaholchi Association, Bepensa collaborators, and tourists who collaborated in the beach cleanup.
Attorney General Miguel Nadal thanked those present and mentioned the importance of carrying out these types of activities because they are essential for raising public awareness about proper waste management. Furthermore, the Attorney General's Office is always willing to support and back those who carry out and promote actions aimed at respecting and complying with environmental regulations.
Likewise, the Head of IMOVEQROO, Jorge Pérez, emphasized that everything falls on the environment, “We are all part of the problem and we are all part of the solution.”
For his part, Manuel Rivero, representative of Bepensa in Quintana Roo, commented that “At Bepensa, as part of the Mexican Coca-Cola Industry, we are deeply committed to a sustainable present and future. That's why we will continue to increase our efforts to keep our public spaces clean, for the benefit of people and the planet. From the smallest to the largest actions, they add up to real change.”
Along these lines, the Mexican Coca-Cola Industry continues to promote new ways of thinking, designing, and producing, with the goal of achieving a circular economy in which every bottle is recycled. An example of this in the Yucatán Peninsula is the blue Cristal Purified Water and Sprite bottles, whose containers are made with 100% recycled and recyclable resin in a sustainable circular economy. This does not bring new plastic into the world, thus making a positive contribution to the fight against climate change.
Creating a better planet is everyone's job. From properly disposing of packaging to promoting a recycling culture for different materials. Let's continue building a more sustainable future together.
