Bepensa in the Dominican Republic is part of NUVIRD, the largest private alliance that seeks to create a culture of waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and utilization.
Creating a new model of society that utilizes and optimizes the flow of materials, energy, and waste for the efficient use of resources is the overall vision we share with Nuvi, a vision focused on creating a sustainable circular economy.
To this end, Nuvi takes the following guidelines as key objectives to achieve this goal:
– Ensure and support the collection and recovery of solid waste from various consumer and post-consumer materials to achieve significant recovery levels, generating benefits for the environment, health, and the economy.
– Promote and foster an ecological culture based on shared responsibility among consumers, industry, commerce, and the state.
– Promote the development of integrated solid waste management systems across the entire logistics chain of waste collection, storage, and recovery.
– Maintain and foster relationships to achieve circular economy goals between organizations and their stakeholders, as well as with different levels of government, including the dissemination of generated information.
– Promote the identification of the corresponding seals for recyclable materials, as well as management for waste recovery.
– Develop collection volumes that generate certainty in the waste supply and promote new investments in the recycling industry, such as PetStar in Mexico, so that these, in turn, generate sustainable material that can be sold on the market.
– Support and build synergy with relevant authorities in waste management education and addressing critical areas related to waste mismanagement.
– Actively participate in the adoption, review, and updating of the applicable legal framework to provide certainty to all sectors of society regarding their responsibility and participation in solid waste management.
– Create and disseminate education and awareness campaigns among the consumer population, very similar to what we do with ReQPET, with the aim of influencing them to change their waste disposal habits and promote a culture of voluntary waste collection and stockpiling.
– Establish and operate collection centers for recycling packaging and other waste, as well as provide information on where to direct collected waste so that it reaches affiliated waste processing companies.
– Promote the values and attitudes of shared responsibility in waste management, cooperation, and environmental conservation.
