In the search to add the population to a conscious culture of the use and recycling of PET, Bepensa, through Bepensa Foundation, has signed an agreement with the H. City Council of Campeche, to install a ReQPET collection center, for the recovery of PET waste.
ReQPET It is the permanent program of the Bepensa Foundation, responsible for collecting PET in the Yucatán Peninsula for more than 12 years. It currently operates with more than a thousand centers installed in public places. The recovered empty PET containers are sent to Petstar, the largest Mexican food-grade PET recycling plant in the world, which integrates them into a sustainable, socially valuable circular economy.
Each piece of PET produced and recovered undergoes a treatment that returns it to a state of 100% recycled resin that can be used in the manufacture of new containers, allowing for a continuous cycle of use without bringing new plastic into the world.
This new collection center is located at the Campeche City Hall and has been designed so that workers and the community at large can use it and join the movement that multiplies actions in favor of the environment.
At the signing, Biby Rabelo de la Torre, mayor of the Campeche City Council, expressed "We are delighted to do our part with this PET collection point within Campeche City Hall. This way, all residents can contribute to recycling in a circular economy model, which will allow us to enjoy a better environment to live in."
For his part, Agustín Menéndez Reyes, Corporate Affairs Manager at Bepensa, acknowledged and thanked the City Council for its commitment to being part of this program and encouraging the Campeche community to collaborate to achieve a waste-free world together.
"We have a global commitment to collect 100% of the packaging shipped to the market by 2030, in addition to innovating in the production of our packaging to contain at least 50% recycled content on average. Currently, products like the blue Cristal purified water bottle are made with 100% recycled and recyclable resin from Petstar.". Menéndez Reyes commented.
“Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is one of the most widely used materials in the world, as it is durable and environmentally friendly, being fully recyclable. Therefore, to take full advantage of this material's benefits, it is important to implement separation, collection, and recycling processes that help recover and reuse the largest possible percentage so that it can return to production lines, reducing its environmental impact.” added Erika Ceballos Berzunza of Corporate Affairs and Communications at Bepensa Campeche.
Bepensa reaffirms its social and environmental commitment with actions like this, a result of the Bepensa Foundation's ReQPET program, which seeks to create a culture of recycling and proper PET waste disposal in the community.
We invite you to separate and dispose of your PET waste at the various collection points, which can be found on the Bepensa Foundation website: http://www.convdevuelta.mx
