We participated in the Regional Forum “Good Practices in Solid Waste Management”, an initiative of the Mérida City Council in partnership with Konrad Adenauer, which aims to share an ecological culture and strengthen the knowledge and capabilities of municipal officials in the State of Yucatán, in order to promote actions that improve practices in municipal governments.
This edition featured national and local speakers who are experts on the subject, such as Carlos Mendieta, Director of Sustainability of PetStar, who provided a guided tour of our PetStar food-grade PET collection plant in Umán, Yucatán, which centralizes all the PET collected by Bepensa and PetStar in the Yucatán Peninsula and from where it is sent to the PetStar recycling plant in Toluca, the largest in the world.
The meeting brought together representatives from 16 municipalities in the interior of the state of Yucatán. They discussed the solutions we are implementing to address socio-environmental issues related to consumption and solid waste, as well as the challenges of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals focused on the circular economy and public policy management. This raises awareness among municipal office staff about the need for their participation in environmental care.
At Bepensa, our strategy is to establish strategic alliances for social and business participation, in which the private sector and the public sector achieve sustainable projects. Therefore, citizen participation, both inside and outside the workplace, is imperative for the efficient recovery of recyclable waste and the construction of a sustainable circular economy.
At Bepensa, we are proud to be able to team up and promote best practices both at the business level and in our daily lives, contributing to environmental protection and a world without waste.
