Bepensa participates in Recycling 2020

The 2020 Recycling Thon was created by the Business Coalition against Climate Change, to which Bepensa belongs, in a joint effort between businesses, society, academia, and government. Its main objective is to work in alignment with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals agenda. The Yucatán Secretariat of Sustainable Development and the Mérida City Council are also supporting this initiative.

The main objective of Recyclathon is to invite all members of society and businesses to bring their electronic and household waste, as these items contain heavy metals that are highly polluting to the earth and therefore require their orderly recovery. SANA will take this waste to a suitable location for proper disposal.

This will be the 5th edition of Recyclathon, and it will take place over five days, from November 23rd to 27th, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 20 different locations in the city of Mérida. Bepensa is participating with three locations for this activity:

– Bepensa Beverages Pacabtún Plant

Calle 7 No. 96 between 12 and 22, Melchor Ocampo II neighborhood.

– Actium Itzimna

25th Street No. 500 C and D by 58, Itzimná neighborhood

A total of 12 organizations are participating and promoting community participation in the Recycling Thon. Among the waste that will be accepted are the following:

Small appliances: Computers, laptops, tablets, telephones, cell phones, switches, cameras, camcorders, audio and MP3 players, intercoms, projectors.

Electronics: Televisions, screens, monitors, printers, video players, audio players, video games, video game accessories (controllers, cassettes, etc.).

Cables: Various cables and chargers.

Appliances: Toaster oven, microwave oven, mixer, iron, blender, electric knife, lamps (without bulbs).

Additionally, PET 1, HDPE 2, and aluminum can waste will be accepted for the benefit of CRIT Yucatán, as part of a simultaneous nationwide campaign being conducted by the Teletón Foundation. There will be no battery collection this year.

In the previous edition in 2019, a total of 15 tons of waste were recovered in just three days. This year, at least 35 tons are expected to be recovered.

With actions like this, at Bepensa we are proud to reaffirm our commitment to the environment, leaving a legacy of social responsibility for future generations.
