Holbox, Quintana Roo, May 22, 2025. – Bepensa reaffirms its commitment to environmental care and sustainable development through the promotion of innovative projects such as Holbox Circular, an initiative that seeks to transform the island of Holbox under a circular economy and sustainability model.
Holbox Circular is a project promoted by Bepensa in collaboration with the Tláloc Foundation and more than 40 strategic partners. Based on the SIRAA model (Raise Awareness, Inform, Reflect, Act, and Learn), this program aims to establish comprehensive waste management, promote environmental education, and build a participatory agenda with the local community.
During its first year of implementation, Holbox Circular achieved significant milestones, such as the creation of the Alliance for a Circular Holbox, made up of 48 companies, social organizations, and community leaders. Mass cleanup activities were also carried out, collecting more than 1,600 kg of recyclable materials, and community activities were promoted, such as “Recreating in the Huaya”, strengthening social coexistence and the sense of belonging.
In addition, strategic collection points were established to facilitate the transportation of recyclable materials to processing centers, thanks to the collaborative efforts of partners such as ECOCE, PetStar, Earth & Life University, ECO-V, the Holbox Massive Sweep, and the Holbox City Hall. This collective effort has not only contributed to the protection of the natural environment but has also generated new economic opportunities for the community through the sale of recyclable waste.
By 2025, the project will redouble its efforts to consolidate a comprehensive recycling system that promotes waste separation in homes and businesses, as well as strengthen local capacities for proper waste management. Environmental education programs focused on children and young people will also be strengthened, instilling in them a commitment to caring for the natural resources of their surroundings.
Bepensa's commitment to the environment goes beyond ecological actions. With Holbox CircularBepensa is committed to the social and economic development of the community, convinced that sustainability is built through participation, education, and teamwork.
Bepensa invites all sectors of society to join in the efforts to promote a cleaner, more equitable, and sustainable future. Holbox Circular is proof that when the community, businesses, organizations, and authorities collaborate, it is possible to generate a real and lasting positive impact.
