- On the occasion of World Water Day, it reaffirms its commitment to maximize efficiency, reuse and minimize extraction
Mérida, March 22, 2025.- On the occasion of World Water Day, Bepensa, as part of the Mexican Coca-Cola Industry, is a benchmark of water efficiency and sustainability, as it is committed to replenishing 100 percent of the vital resource used in its production processes.
In this sense, Bepensa reaffirms its commitment to contributing to the care of this vital liquid and to the principle that every drop counts. Therefore, 100 percent of the wastewater it generates is treated and reused for irrigation and operational support activities.
Based on a solid sustainability strategy, Bepensa, aware that this vital liquid is a basic input in production, conserves and uses it responsibly at every stage of the process as part of a plan focused on water efficiency in its operations.
Through the Bepensa Foundation, it also carries out actions to clean various bodies of water, such as beaches, swamps, and cenotes in Yucatán, Campeche, and Quintana Roo. From cenotes alone, of which it has cleaned 64 from 2015 to date, it has collected 30 tons of waste.
Through the Coca-Cola Mexican Industry's Schools with Water program, for which Bepensa is responsible in the southeast of the country, more than 500 schools in Mexico have installed rainwater systems free of charge, benefiting thousands of students.
The UN celebrates World Water Day every March 22nd to highlight the importance of water and promote its sustainable management. In this context, Bepensa reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development, environmental education, and efficient water resource management, implementing concrete actions that generate well-being in the communities where it operates.
