Bepensa Biopark is an initiative of the Bepensa Foundation to raise awareness and educate children and young people on issues of conservation, ecology, and sustainability.
It is a 10,000-square-meter demonstration green area where various environmentally friendly initiatives can be seen: recycling materials, using alternative energy sources, and reusing water from wastewater treatment processes.
It has a nursery that produces more than 7,000 trees a year, which are donated to schools, and a compost heap that uses organic waste to produce environmentally friendly fertilizers that accelerate tree growth. To date, more than 300 trees of various native or endemic species have been planted in the area.
Bepensa Biopark also has a meliponary, a turtle farm, and a rabbit hutch, projects that allow visitors to have direct contact with the region's fauna and promote environmental education.
