Despite being one of the leading recyclers of food-grade PET in Latin America, Mexico faces the challenge of preventing plastics from ending up in the wrong places, such as the oceans.
That's why at Bepensa, as part of the Mexican Coca-Cola Industry, we're committed to being part of the solution and continuing to join forces to achieve the goal of a #WorldWithoutWaste by 2030.
Our goal
Recover and recycle the equivalent of each container sold to achieve a circular economy and avoid waste generation. Achieving this requires the collaborative work of many allies, including bottling partners like Bepensa Bebidas, businesses, organizations, and the public.
An example of this is our work with Ocean Conservancy and our recycling capacity through our plants. Through the series "Better Lives Through Better Business," produced by BBC StoryWorks, we seek to highlight our efforts to achieve a #WorldWithoutWaste.
Through this episode, we've managed to capture the importance of the circular economy and its social impact within the recycling chain in Mexico.
We'll learn the story of Juan, a waste collector in Mexico City, who for 15 years has made this a source of income for himself and his family, in addition to helping the planet.
We are not one, we are all
In Mexico, more than 35,000 people are part of the recycling chain. Their work, in addition to being a source of income, has a key impact on our planet.
