Firm commitments to the environment in the Dominican Republic.

The event featured speakers such as Vielka Guzmán, Senior Manager of Public Affairs and Communications for the Caribbean at Coca-Cola, and Juan Amell, Director of Corporate Public Affairs at Bepensa Dominicana.

"A company's commitment to sustainability is not primarily a goal of profitability, but rather a responsibility to the society in which its productive activities are located and within the companies themselves," said Campos De Moya, president of AIRD, at the opening.

De Moya indicated that a key to sustainability is the ability of an international brand like Coca-Cola to successfully enter the local market and even expand by partnering with Bepensa, the local bottling company.

"Knowledge, formulas, and secrets are provided by the multinational company, while the local company markets various products for Dominican consumption and enjoyment," he noted.

Juan Amell, Director of Corporate Public Affairs at Bepensa Dominicana, emphasized that the company is committed to water, setting a goal to reclaim all the water it uses. This goal was met in 2016, setting an example of good stewardship of natural resources. Bepensa Dominicana has pledged to achieve the "zero waste" goal by 2030. Bepensa has 2,500 employees in the country.
