In commemoration of reforestation month, the Coca-Cola System, composed of the Coca-Cola Company and Bepensa Dominicana, together with the Yaque del Norte Water Fund, carried out a tree planting campaign in the Higua River basin, one of the largest tributaries of the Yaque del Norte.
Forest restoration work, through the planting of endemic and native trees, is part of the "Water for the Future" program, sponsored by the Coca-Cola System, as part of our commitment to returning the water we use in the production of our finished products. To this end, we have the technical support of The Nature Conservancy.
“We are committed to ensuring the well-being of communities through various initiatives, one of which is this program, launched in October 2013, with the goal of replenishing 100% of the water used in our products through reforestation and micro-watershed conservation. We have achieved this goal since 2015,” said Juan Amell, Director of Corporate Public Affairs at Bepensa Dominicana.
"We believe that water is a limited and irreplaceable resource, key to the health of the ecosystems on which we depend and, in turn, essential to human well-being.", said Marlen Gómez, Senior Manager of Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability for the Coca-Cola Company in the Caribbean.
