The global COVID-19 pandemic is one of the greatest challenges we are all facing. In our region, this challenge was compounded by the meteorological events that occurred during 2020, which have had a significant impact on people's lives.
Faced with this reality, at Bepensa we set out to continue moving forward with the clear objective of caring for our employees and their families, as well as contributing socially to the care of people in our communities.
For this reason, since the beginning of the pandemic, we have sent home employees who fall into the vulnerable population category due to being over 60 years of age, having chronic illnesses, heart conditions, or compromised immune systems, as well as pregnant and breastfeeding women. This is in addition to doubling down on social distancing and implementing remote work for those whose roles in the company allow it. This adds up to a large number of employees who stayed home during 2020, secure in the knowledge that the company supports them and they have secure employment to continue moving our country forward.
We also recognize the extraordinary commitment and hard work of all our employees in the areas that required us to continue operating at our facilities. We thank them for their daily commitment to working with genuine enthusiasm, adapting to new routines and daily work rhythms, following all protective measures, and always ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of everyone so their businesses could continue moving forward.
As part of the Mexican Coca-Cola Industry, we have focused on continuing to protect and provide assistance to medical personnel, with key support from the Ministries of Health and State Police. This combined effort for the well-being of Mexicans has resulted in the delivery to date of more than 688,000 liters of water and rehydration drinks, more than 76,000 pieces of supplies for their work, such as disposable gowns, nitrile gloves, N95 masks, face shields, 52,000 triple-layer face masks, 44,000 liters of 70% alcohol gel, as well as 5,400 protective face shields made from recycled PET, delivered to hospitals and clinics of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), IMSS Foundation, ISSSTE, SEDENA hospitals, the Red Cross, and the Police in the Yucatán Peninsula. In addition, the Ministry of Health and authorities in the states of Campeche, Quintana Roo, and Yucatán have been loaned seven vehicles to provide safe transportation for medical personnel.
As part of the actions we're taking to support communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, and with the goal of reinforcing basic hygiene and safety measures during this contingency, we've delivered more than 130,000 liters of antibacterial gel, 3,000 acrylic protective screens to small stores, and more than 10,000 face shields made 100% from recycled PET to our customers and consumers.
Through Bepensa FoundationWith our Regalove platform, we've provided a way for people to make donations using credit cards to support the most vulnerable communities. This project is part of major initiatives like Yucatán Solidario, which was recognized as one of the most humanitarian initiatives in the world during the current coronavirus pandemic with the United Nations Solidarity in Action Award.
To date, Regalove has continued to double its contributions and has accumulated more than $2,700,000 in donations, which have been distributed to various civil associations registered on the platform to help those most in need.
We have also channeled our support efforts during this health crisis into the area of donations of medical equipment, which is why we provided a mobile X-ray unit, valued at more than $ 1,300,000, which has everything necessary to provide optimal care to anyone who requires it at the High Specialty Hospital of the Yucatan Peninsula. Likewise, we recently donated a fully equipped ambulance to the Red Cross in Yucatan, which will be operational in 2021 to serve the community.
In addition, in conjunction with Coca-Cola Foundation We support, in partnership with civil society organizations, the provision of food, hygiene and basic necessities, along with more than 4,000 food parcels and more than 25,000 liters of water to the neediest population in the Yucatan Peninsula affected by the health emergency and natural disasters.
Without a doubt, 2020 was a year full of challenges, but above all, of opportunities to show empathy and solidarity. For this reason, at Bepensa, as part of the Mexican Coca-Cola IndustryWe believe that the most important thing is the union and combined efforts between government, businesses, and civil society to continue advancing and moving forward.
At Bepensa, we're starting 2021 with optimism. Let's keep moving forward and do this together!
