Farmacias Similares joins the Bepensa Foundation for the Cenote 2023 Program

As part of the work that the Bepensa Foundation carries out each year for the sanitation and cleaning of cenotes in the Yucatan Peninsula, we are proud to be able to join forces with Similar Pharmacies through its Simi Planeta program, an initiative that promotes environmental protection.

Thanks to the support and sponsorship of our partners, we have been able to serve the following bodies of water:

At the beginning of July, we completed the cleaning and sanitation of the Yalcobá Cenote in Valladolid, Yucatán, as the first of the cenotes we will be working on together in 2023.

This is our 50th cenote and we are grateful for the participation of MGA Toshio Yokoyama, Director of Resource Management and Conservation of the Secretariat of Sustainable Development, to the Municipal President of Valladolid Alfredo Fernández Arceo and to Lic. Karla Dalel Gómez Castilla, Delegate in Yucatán of Dr. Simi AC Foundation to join forces for this activity in favor of the environment.

Thanks to the sponsorship of our partners, we managed to recover 432 kg of waste, with the participation of 125 volunteers. Learn more herehttps://fb.watch/mmoFt7QoiP/

Later we carried out the cleaning and sanitation of the Cauich cenote, region 225, Cancun, Quintana Roo, for which we had the presence and participation of Mr. Cristo Zapata Perea, delegate of Simi Planeta in Quintana Roo, Mr. Carlos Martin Briceño, Director of Bepensa Foundation and Biologist David Espinosa Puch from the Ecology Department of the Benito Juárez City Council.

This is cenote number 51 and the second one we've worked on with funding from similar pharmacies through SimiPlaneta. Learn more about this activity at https://www.facebook.com/FunBepensa

We also carried out the cleaning and sanitation of the urban cenote in Superblock 68 in Cancún, Quintana Roo. This time, we also replaced the cenote's perimeter fence, reforested the area, installed signage, and cleaned the surrounding area.

This is cenote No. 52 and the third one we have worked on with funding from Farmacias Similares through Simi Planeta.

We are grateful for the presence and commitment of all those who joined us during the event, including Tania Fernández Moreno, General Director of Ecology; Christopher Zapata Perea, Simi Planeta Delegate in Quintana Roo; Carlos Martín Briceño, Director of the Bepensa Foundation; and biologist David Espinosa, coordinator of the "Urban Cenotes" program. They provided vital information on water quality and how to protect these special spaces.

In the following days, the director of the Bepensa Foundation, Carlos Martin Briceño, led an important restoration mission to the Cauich cenote, located in region 225 of Cancun. With the invaluable support of Simi Planeta, the Cancun City Council and the team of Sentinels of Water, we work together to preserve these natural treasures.

Simi Planeta, with its financial support, has been essential to the healing of nine cenotes planned for intervention, three of them in our beloved city of Cancún. We join with other organizations with the goal of protecting and saving our cenotes, creating a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

Throughout this challenging and rewarding process, we were joined by Christoph Zapata Perea, Simi Planeta's representative in Quintana Roo. He shares our passion for environmental protection and joined us every step of the way.

Furthermore, biologist David Espinosa, coordinator of the "Urban Cenotes" program, played a crucial role in the restoration of the cenote, and with the participation of numerous volunteers, we took a major step toward improving this invaluable space and raising awareness about its importance and the need to preserve it.
