As part of its commitment and with a focus on an effective solution for improving our environment, Bepensa is partnering with Grupo Cielo through the Bepensa Foundation to implement ReQPET, the company's ongoing and comprehensive plastic waste collection program at its facilities.
The ReQPET program, a Bepensa Foundation program launched in 2010, promotes an ecological culture regarding the management of plastic waste, fostering environmental responsibility and encouraging recycling. Its core focus is education on the importance of recovering and recycling this waste as an effective solution for improving our environment, while also using a circular economy approach that strengthens sustainable management toward a vision of a world without waste.
ReQPET currently has 436 collection points throughout the peninsula, and 11 more will be added thanks to the collaboration with Grupo Cielo. This is compelling evidence of our shared commitment to joining forces to improve the quality of life and preserve the environment in Mexico.
The Grupo Cielo locations that are joining this initiative are: Lapa Kukulkán, Lapa Montejo, Lapa Altabrisa, Lapa Caucel, Lapa Dorada, Cool de Sac, Sushi Club, Hacienda Teya, Teya Santa Lucía, Teya 60, and Corporativo Grupo Cielo.
This partnership is of great benefit to the Yucatecan community, as in the last three years alone we have collected a total of 160,000 kilograms of plastic waste and have managed to increase the number of kilograms collected year after year. We hope that, thanks to the support of key players like Grupo Cielo, we will surpass these figures even further in 2019.
With actions like these, Bepensa, through its foundation, reaffirms its commitment to a vision of a world without waste, with actions that address the needs for proper use, disposal, and recycling of plastic waste in the country. We work comprehensively with a forward-looking vision to raise this awareness by educating new generations with a comprehensive vision of the circular economy in which we leverage this material at all stages of its life cycle and thus reduce its impact on our environment.
