To raise awareness of the problems affecting our planet, we have celebrated Earth Day around the world since 1970. At Bepensa, we join this celebration with shared actions with the government and society in the communities where we operate, because working together is how we make a better world for all a reality.
As part of this day, we began activities in Tekax in coordination with the City Council and with the support of our Bepensa Foundation, as well as the community of that municipality. Very early in the morning, we began with a talk at the convention center, where we were joined by sixth-semester youth from COBAY, Scout Group #1, civil society, and municipal authorities. We discussed the importance of community involvement and action on issues such as recycling to strengthen the circular economy for plastic waste, as a viable, functional, and reliable solution for achieving a world without waste.
After the talk and sharing a positive culture about recycling, we headed to reforest a public area next to COBAY with the help and participation of the residents of that area, who, along with the municipal government, pledged to care for and maintain this space.
In order to fulfill our commitment to continue providing comprehensive support to the communities where we operate and to round off our environmental activities with a flourish, we headed to the Ucí police station, where we previously installed a park and exercise area for the community.
Once again, with the full support of the Motul City Council and the Ucí police station, we gave a talk aimed primarily at children about the importance of reflecting on our impact on the environment on that day and how, through recycling and the proper disposal of PET containers, we can be part of an effective solution.
The community was explained why it is important to recycle and how, through four simple steps, we can prevent recycling from ending up in the trash and then our oceans. In addition, they are helping the environment by allowing discarded bottles to be converted into new ones, saving resources like water and energy.
