By 2023, the amount of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the country is expected to reach around $4.384 billion, representing a 71% increase compared to 2020.
In this context, Bepensa received the Foreign Direct Investment Recognition Award in the Industry and Commerce category from the Dominican Republic's Export and Investment Center (ProDominicana). The company was recognized for its commitment to industrial and commercial development in the country, driving economic growth and generating quality jobs.
“We are deeply grateful to ProDominicana for its fundamental support, which has facilitated the development of our operations and allowed us to contribute to job creation and the well-being of thousands of Dominican families. This recognition inspires us to continue investing and working to build a prosperous future for this wonderful country,” said Alejandro Herrera, general manager of Bepensa in the Dominican Republic.
Bepensa, along with The Coca-Cola Company, contributes significantly to the Dominican economy, generating an economic contribution of more than 2.48 billion pesos throughout its production chain. This positive impact extends to various industries nationwide, particularly in sectors such as commerce, manufacturing, transportation, and agriculture.
Each year, the Coca-Cola System purchases more than 5.46 billion pesos in supplies and services from local suppliers. These investments boost the local economy and promote the growth and sustainability of numerous companies in the country.
Both companies play a fundamental role in the Dominican labor market. With 2,650 direct jobs and more than 10,700 indirect jobs, they support thousands of families across the country. This impact is especially significant for communities that depend on the economy of local grocery stores and other small businesses.
During 2024, Bepensa continues its significant expansion in the Dominican Republic market, increasing the capacity of its production plant and strengthening its entire supply chain. This year, the company inaugurated a new production line valued at approximately $20 million, marking an important step in its growth strategy and improvement of its production capabilities.
The company has allocated approximately $40 million for this year, part of which was used to create a new water production line that is already operating. This investment has increased its production capacity and, at the same time, diversified its product offering to better meet local market demands.
As a direct result of these expansions and improvements, Bepensa is estimated to have created approximately 140 new jobs by the end of 2024, once again contributing to the country's economic growth and the well-being of its residents.
Bepensa celebrates and is grateful for being recognized with this award, which ProDominicana presents annually to global companies that have positively impacted the country's growth through investment. It also continues to reaffirm its commitment to bringing well-being and development to the communities where it operates.
