At Bepensa, as part of the Mexican Coca-Cola Industry for a #WorldWithoutWaste, we are committed to the proper separation of waste, and with the goal of stopping the spread of Covid-19, these actions are more important than ever.
For this reason, citizens are asked to properly separate their waste into organic, recyclable inorganic, and non-recyclable inorganic and sanitary waste, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect sanitation workers.
Proper separation of healthcare waste begins at home and protects us all; therefore, it's important to follow these guidelines:
Place face masks, gloves, tissues, chewing gum, toothbrushes, cigarettes, medication containers, syringes, bandages, and gauze in a bag. All of this waste is classified as non-recyclable and sanitary.
The bag containing this waste should be sprayed inside and out with a chlorinated water solution (it is recommended to use a 400 ppm chlorinated solution, which is obtained by adding 10 milliliters of commercial chlorine to one liter of water).
It is suggested to mark the bag with a permanent marker, writing the legend “Medical Waste”.
After this, it can be handed over to the truck or the person collecting the garbage.
It's important that when you hand them out to the cleaning staff, you inform them that non-recyclable inorganic waste contains medical waste, so they don't open the bag.
People are encouraged to use bags they already have at home or, if possible, purchase environmentally friendly ones, such as those made from recycled materials or identified as compostable.
At Bepensa, we're confident that by following these simple steps, we'll be doing our part to combat the spread of COVID-19. We encourage you to stay informed and follow the authorities' instructions.
