Coca-Cola and Domino's celebrate World Recycling Day

Santo Domingo. The Coca-Cola System, comprised of the Coca-Cola Company and its domestic bottler, Bepensa Dominicana, commemorated World Recycling Day with Domino's Dominican Republic and Galería 360, with an art project focused on raising awareness about sustainability and dedicated to Dominicans who wish to join this effort.

The companies presented a sculpture made of medium-sized pizza boxes on a wooden structure created by artist Marcelo Ferder. It is illustrated with emoticons made from recycled material from soda bottles and products from the Coca-Cola portfolio, creating pixel art-like images with the lids.

Juan Roberto Amell, Director of Corporate Public Affairs at Bepensa Dominicana, emphasized that this commemoration is another opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to sustainability as part of the World Without Waste initiative, which aims to collect and recycle the equivalent of 100% of the packaging it puts on the market by 2030.

He also emphasized that the sculpture presented is a reminder to society of the importance of contributing small actions to achieve great goals, and he invited Dominican families to explore it and interact with the caps and complete their own figures or emoticons.

“At the Coca-Cola System, we are honored to be part of this initiative alongside Domino's and Galería 360, along with Green Love, partners in the collection and recycling of bottles in containers provided for the public to properly dispose of this waste. We firmly believe that collective solutions have a greater impact, hence our ongoing interest in building partnerships.”, the executive said.

For his part, Luis Francisco Rodríguez, general manager of Domino's Dominican Republic, indicated that this initiative is a demonstration of the brand's commitment to sustainability, adding to the actions tied to its sustainable delivery programs, DeliveryEbikes, energy efficiency, and water conservation and efficiency.

"Thanks to our boxes' reduced thickness, which reduces the amount of material needed to make conventional packaging, and because they maintain a craft or natural cardboard color without any additives, they can be recycled like cardboard. This allows our customers to go to their preferred collection center and recycle them.", the executive highlighted.

The Coca-Cola System and Domino's Dominican Republic encourage consumers to reduce, reuse, and recycle not only on World Recycling Day, but also to incorporate it into their daily lives to protect the environment and make their future greener.
