Bepensa, the community, and authorities collect more than two tons of waste in Celestún.

Celestún, Yucatán. As part of the initiatives to support Celestún's recovery after the damage caused by Hurricane Milton, several dozen volunteers from Bepensa, together with the community and local authorities, collected more than two tons of waste in the vicinity of the shelter port and the urban area known as La Cartonera.

This joint effort reinforces Bepensa's commitment as a Socially Responsible Company, contributing to improving the environments and quality of life of communities in the Yucatan Peninsula.

The cleanup day was led by Jessica Saade, Public Affairs Manager at Bepensa; Georgina García, Culture and Communications Manager at Bepensa Bebidas; Edgard González, Personnel Manager at the Bebidas Bepensa plant in Poniente; Germán Cauich, Mayor of Celestún; and Jorge Alberto Hoil, Director of the Celestún Municipal Police.

Bepensa volunteers and Celestún residents formed teams to collect waste, paying special attention to hazardous waste and recyclable materials such as PET and aluminum. During four hours of intense activity, each team managed to recover an average of 400 kilograms of waste. Entire families participated in cleaning up the fronts of their homes and businesses, while municipal police units assisted in transporting the collected waste.

Jessica Saade emphasized that these types of actions not only seek to clean up affected areas, but also to raise awareness in communities.

“It is vital that we all contribute to maintaining healthy environments. These types of activities reinforce our commitment as volunteers and as agents of change for the communities that need it most.”

Mayor Germán Cauich acknowledged the collaboration of Bepensa's corporate volunteers, inviting residents to join these initiatives to keep streets and public spaces free of waste.

The collection and cleanup activities are part of Bepensa's ongoing social responsibility initiatives. This year, the company celebrated 15 consecutive years of receiving the ESR® (Socially Responsible Company) distinction.

These actions not only help Celestún recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Milton, but also reinforce Bepensa's commitment to contributing to the sustainable development of communities in the Yucatan Peninsula and to environmental conservation.
