Bepensa Dominicana: the first company in the industrial sector to be recognized with the "Igualando RD" gold seal.

The bottling company has been recognized by the Ministry of Women and the UNDP with the "Igualando RD" Gold Seal, and was also awarded the National Quality Award in the Industry category with a silver medal.

Bepensa Dominicana kicked off 2018 with important recognitions such as the "Igualando RD" Gold Seal, an initiative of the Ministry of Women and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), which seeks to recognize companies that promote gender equality internally.

Bepensa Dominicana is the first company in the Caribbean country's industrial sector to receive the seal, having demonstrated that its internal labor policies include practices that allow its employees to balance work, family, and personal life, as well as access to equal pay.

Similarly, the bottling company demonstrated that it has non-discriminatory policies associated with the recruitment and promotion of its staff, as well as procedures that generate actions to prevent and address domestic and gender-based violence.

To achieve this level of gender inclusion, Bepensa Dominicana conducted a self-assessment that included interviews with its staff and the design of an action plan, the implementation of which was overseen by a Gender Equality Committee. The action plan resulted in the company having tools such as a Community Resource List to support employees in the event they are victims of domestic violence. Additionally, there are recruitment, promotion, and compensation policies, and a lactation room opened last year for employees who are breastfeeding their children.

"The 'Igualando RD' Gold Seal we have been awarded can be considered one of the most important recognitions we have received, as it represents another step towards reducing the inequality gap that may exist in our society at the workplace, with what we have achieved, especially in the social context in which we find ourselves, where women are increasingly raising their voices in support of their development," emphasized Juan Amell, Director of Corporate Public Affairs at Bepensa Dominicana.

2017 National Award for Private Sector Quality

The bottling company also received an award in the Dominican Republic's National Private Sector Quality Award, presented by the Association of Industrial Companies of Herrera and Santo Domingo Province (AEIH). Bepensa Dominicana received a silver medal in the Large Company category, Industry.

"It's always an honor for us to be recognized with the National Quality Award, as that is precisely one of our corporate values: maintaining high quality standards in our operations and in the products we sell to the Dominican market. These types of awards always serve to renew our commitment to being an exemplary company in the Dominican industrial sector," said Juan Amell.

In its 2017 edition, the award, recognized as the country's highest business honor, recognized 14 local companies for their performance during the year in terms of competitiveness, production, and service.
