Bepensa Foundation and Dunosusa join forces to clean up cenotes on the Yucatan Peninsula.

Mérida, Yucatán, June 3, 2025.- Fundación Bepensa announced this Tuesday, from the Dunosusa offices, the allocation of the rounding up for the month of June 2025, which will be used for the cleaning and restoration of two important cenotes on the Yucatán Peninsula. The President of the Bepensa Foundation, Margarita Ponce Díaz, led the press conference, where she expressed her deep gratitude to Dunosusa and explained the impact of this collaboration.

“Today we are here with Dunosusa to thank them for awarding us the June roundup,” he said. "Bepensa, as a socially responsible company, acts through its Foundation, which promotes an important line of environmental action concerned with improving the quality of life in the communities where we operate. Through our Cenote Conservation program, we seek to contribute to the sanitation of these bodies of water, which are so characteristic and vital to the region, through three key phases: community awareness, cleaning of the body of water and its surroundings, and reforestation of the site."

This is the seventh time that Fundación Bepensa has received support from Dunosusa's rounding program, and the funds raised during June 2025 will be used to restore two new cenotes: the Becal Cenote, located in Tekit, Yucatán, and the Tunich Cenote, located in region 100 of Cancún, Quintana Roo. These actions are scheduled to take place on July 24 and September 10, respectively.

“These will be cenotes number 70 and 71 in the Fundación Bepensa sanitation program. Eight of them have been cleaned up thanks to Dunosusa's rounding up initiative, which demonstrates the tangible impact of this partnership,” explained the president of Fundación Bepensa. “It is also the first time that this fundraising mechanism will be used to support the cleaning of a cenote in the state of Quintana Roo.”

The Bepensa Foundation also reported that the municipal governments of Tekit and Benito Juárez have enthusiastically welcomed the proposal and have promised to provide all the necessary support to ensure that the work is carried out successfully and with the active participation of local communities.

“We invite the entire community to participate by rounding up their purchases during the month of June. Every penny counts and represents a direct contribution to the cleaning, preservation, and regeneration of the cenotes, true natural treasures of our land,” concluded Margarita Ponce Díaz. "And once again, many thanks to Dunosusa for the trust they have placed in us. We are deeply grateful and motivated to continue with this work."

With this new edition of the rounding program, Fundación Bepensa reaffirms its commitment to the environment and to joint efforts between civil society, private initiative, and local authorities in favor of a cleaner and more sustainable future for everyone.
