The Bepensa Foundation continues its commitment to environmental action by cleaning a cenote located in a park in Superblock 230 in Cancún, Quintana Roo.
With this activity, 5 cenotes have been intervened thanks to the contribution of Farmacias Similares in alliance with SíMiPlanet and cenote No. 54, which we have been cleaning at the Bepensa Foundation since 2015, as part of our Cenotes Program.
The activity begins with talks and awareness workshops for the community. Expert divers and volunteers then meet at the cenote to clean it for a period of four to six hours. The waste is then sorted and weighed for recycling.
Thanks to everyone's support, we managed to recover 300 kg of solid waste, mainly PET containers, glass containers, Styrofoam, cardboard, tires, and aluminum containers. Various sections of the site were also rehabilitated, with 11 signage elements installed, a fence in the wetland area to prevent contamination, and five chess tables in the park were painted.
We especially thank the H. City Council of Benito Juárez for their support and the participation of Grupo Poseidón, CECYTE Campus 1 School, Centinelas del Agua, the Ministry of Health (SESA) and Civil Protection of Cancun, as well as 136 volunteers and people from the community who joined together for the conservation of these natural and recreational spaces
At the Bepensa Foundation, we are proud to establish partnerships that help us improve the environment in the communities where we operate. Together, we are making a difference!
