Mérida, Yucatán, April 12, 2024 – One of the most important sporting and family events of the year is back: the 2nd Powerade Race 2024, which will take place on April 28th at the "Jardín Bepensa" in the western part of Mérida, Yucatán. More than 1,500 participants are expected to experience the excitement of this great day of sport and socializing.
The 2nd Powerade Race 2024 will start at Jardín Bepensa, located on Avenida 2000 between 59 B and 67 in the Bosques del Poniente neighborhood of Mérida. The starting line will be ready to welcome runners at the following times: 6:00 a.m. for the 10 km participants and 6:10 a.m. for the 5 km participants.
Later, starting at 6:15 a.m., the walk will begin for those who wish to enjoy the morning and socialize in a festive, family-oriented atmosphere.
At a press conference, the organizing committee expressed its deep gratitude to everyone involved in organizing this race for a cause. All proceeds from the registration fees for the 2nd Powerade Race will be donated to the nonprofit organizations Club Especial Ayelem, Institución Asistencial AC, and the Bepensa Foundation's Ser Grande program.
“The Powerade Run is not just a race, it's an event that has the power to change lives and make a real difference in our society, as it will not only challenge our bodies, but also touch our hearts and transform lives at the same time. Last year we had at least a thousand attendees and for 2024 we already have 1,500 registered, so the atmosphere will be incredible.”, said Margarita Ponce, President of the Bepensa Foundation.
He also added that the Bepensa Foundation will double the amount raised for these associations through its Regalove program. Each peso will be converted into two, thus multiplying the impact of this activity.

He also thanked the partners of this second Powerade Race 2024, the Yucatán Sports Institute, the Mérida City Council, Vive Deporte, the Ministry of Public Security, and medical services personnel for the logistics so that families and participants could enjoy this experience safely and peacefully. And last but not least, the Bepensa Foundation, whose support will allow the race's funds to be doubled through its Regalove program.
Also present at the press conference were José Enrique Oropeza, Marketing Manager of Bepensa Bebidas; Oswaldo Cervera Basulto, Regional Commercial Manager of Bepensa Bebidas; Marco Valenzuela, Director of Administration and Finance at IDEY; and Jesús Aguilar y Aguilar, Technical Secretary of Sports for the Mérida City Council.
For his part, Oswaldo Cervera, Regional Commercial Manager of Bepensa Bebidas, outlined the race details, starting with registration, which is available for $300 until April 25. Registration can be done at the following registration centers:
- Planet Marathon, Plaza Ateneum, local 7, Col. Montebello (10:00 am to 8:00 pm)
- Bicycle Mechanic, Felipe Carrillo Puerto Avenue, 3, Díaz Ordaz Neighborhood (10:00 am to 8:00 pm)
- La Lupita Snack Shop, Mérida Caucel Highway, 500 meters from the Periférico (9:00 am to 7:00 pm)

The 10km race categories (both men's and women's) include: Freestyle (15-29 years); Submaster (30-39 years); Master (40-49 years); Veterans (50-59 years); and Veterans Plus (60 years and older). The 5km race (both men's and women's) has a single freestyle category (15 years and older), while the 3km race (both men's and women's) also has a single freestyle category (4 years and older).
The kit distribution will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Bepensa Garden. Participants will be eligible to receive a race number, a dry-fit T-shirt, an attendance medal, and other gifts.
The organizing committee will award prizes to the top three finishers in each 10 km category, as well as to the top three finishers overall in the 5 km category.
