Our work begins in the fields. Fruits, seeds, milk, water, and sugarcane are some of the products we use in the Mexican Coca-Cola Industry (IMCC). Each year, we purchase around 18 billion pesos worth of food produced by small and medium-sized producers.
For Bepensa, as part of the IMCC, it's not just the final product that's important, which is why agriculture represents a fundamental pillar and the heart of our great sustainability challenge.
Mexico ranks eleventh in food production worldwide, according to the Agrifood Atlas of the Agrifood and Fisheries Information Service (SIAP). It also leads the world in sales of avocados, tomatoes, tequila, and beer.
With these competitive advantages and our efforts as an industry, we promote initiatives that allow us to continue developing specific production chains such as milk and coffee. Currently, we harvest fruits such as oranges, apples, mangoes, and pineapples, which we use in our beverages made in Mexico.
Promoting productive projects and increasing consumption of products from the agri-food sector will not only make us one of the main partners of the Mexican countryside, but will also be the way to reduce our carbon footprint by avoiding imports and transporting raw materials over shorter distances.
For us, investing in the countryside means growing together. We will achieve this by purchasing local products and partnering with farmers through civil society organizations to provide them with technical training and advice. Because we love this land, the work will be for everyone and by everyone.
