Award ceremony for the “Recycling Stories” contest

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic.- The Coca-Cola System, comprised of the Coca-Cola Company and its bottling partner in the country, Bepensa Dominicana, together with the Regional Initiative for Inclusive Recycling (IRR), announced the winner of the “Recycling Stories – World Without Waste Journalism Award” contest.

The winning article was written by Acento journalist MeryAnn Escolástico and titled "Objects that contribute to the environment, paradoxically buried in waste," published last October.

As part of the award, Escolástico will travel to Atlanta, United States, to learn about the World of Coca-Cola and, in turn, conduct an interview with a global executive of the “World Without Waste” initiative.

Also finalists in the competition were "Recycling for Dummies: Local Initiatives for a More Sustainable City," by Leandro Sánchez, and "Mechanism to Achieve Greater Inclusion of Communities Along the Ozama River in Plastic Collection. Feasibility for the Transformation and Use of Shrink Wrap," by Cándida Acosta.

Present at the awards ceremony were Ana Virginia García, Director of Communications at Coca-Cola; Juan Amell, Director of Public Relations and Communications at Bepensa; and a team from the Acento group.
