Sanitation and cleaning of the Libre Unión cenote in Yaxcabá

In recent days, at a press conference, details were shared about the cleanup efforts at the Libre Unión cenote, located in the municipality of Yaxcabá, Yucatán, carried out by Bepensa and the Bepensa Foundation in coordination with the Secretariat of Sustainable Development and the Grosjean Expedition.

Mr. Fernando Ponce, president of the Bepensa Foundation, commented that joining forces is the only way to achieve change.

Bepensa's cenotes sanitation and restoration program began in 2015, during which time they have worked with the support of archaeologist Sergio Grosjean to benefit these bodies of water. To date, they have worked to improve more than 20 bodies of water, thereby preventing the contamination of hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of water belonging to the country's most important underground water reserve.

The restoration and sanitation of cenotes is complemented by the planting of trees for reforestation of the area, which is of great importance for the preservation and restoration of the peninsula's water table.

With these actions, the Bepensa Foundation reaffirms its commitment to the environment through direct work to protect water resources, with a positive impact on the communities where it operates. They invite residents to participate in the activities they implement, raising awareness of the importance of caring for and restoring these spaces.

Thank you for inspiring us and showing that together we will achieve a #WorldWithoutWaste
