We join the 2023 Forest Crusade on World Tree Day

At Bepensa and the Bepensa Foundation, together with the Mérida City CouncilWe've taken another step toward a more sustainable future. We're excited to participate in the 2023 Forest Crusade, in commemoration of World Tree Day.

As every year, we participated in the Mérida City Council's 2023 Forest Crusade, which aims to plant trees and promote reforestation in various parts of the city from June 5 to 28.

To build a more sustainable Mérida, the City Council will work with state authorities and civil society to expand green infrastructure, protect natural resources, and promote sustainability.

This strategy, which is part of the UN Sustainable Development Agenda, aims to plant 30,000 trees at the beginning of the rainy season to strengthen the survival of these trees. These trees include native species of the region, such as shade trees, fruit trees, and flowers, such as Ramón, Maculí, Balché, Flor de Mayo, Saramuyo, and Guayaba, among others.

We join the participation of more than 4,500 citizens who are joining forces to once again do their part to protect the environment by combating climate change and protecting terrestrial ecosystems.

Bepensa, through its Corporate Volunteer Program and the Bepensa Foundation, got to work to kick off these workshops in the framework of World Tree Day.

Throughout each edition of the Forest Crusade, we have achieved important milestones, such as permanence, continuity, and tradition; the interest and participation of citizens in all spheres, from universities, schools, businesses, and civil society organizations; and the increase in biodiversity through the use of more than 120 plant species.

At Bepensa, we are proud to be part of this initiative and contribute to ensuring a better tomorrow. We are committed to the environment in the communities where we operate and promote reforestation and the conservation of ecosystems and endemic species in our region.
